my friend, nicole, in DUMBO. DUMBO stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. the now mostly residential ($$$) neighborhood used to be an industrial center in the 1900s. nicole is laying on a historical landmark, as DUMBO is a historical district in NYC. from the beginning of the 19th century to the 1949, the railroad (called the Jay Street Connecting Railroad) carried coffee from the docks near the BK Bridge to warehouses along Jay St. It was a part of a larger railroad, connecting to New Jersey.
